Announcement
On behalf of the Nominating Committee we would like thank everyone who has participated by giving us his/her feedback and suggestions for the 2012 elections. Please rest assured that we have put forth our best effort in meeting and investigating each and every candidate that was suggested by the community members.
As we had mentioned before, this year the nominating committee has made it a priority to try to diversify the representation on the board of directors by as much as possible to be more reflective of the community composition. This prevents any one group from being dominant or any one point of view from constantly prevailing. It is our belief that diversity is essential to the success of the Board in its operations.
We have also made it a priority to try to involve the younger generation in the board and to make use of their energy, dedication and expertise. It is our belief that the community's future lays at their hands, and that one way of ensuring a bright future is getting the new generation trained in the matters of the center at the hands, guidance, and wisdom of the older generation.
Furthermore, to avoid the polarization of the community, we have also looked (whenever possible) for candidates that would be willing to work with each other regardless of the election outcome, thus turning the election from a competition to a cooperative agreement, whereby the only winner is the community itself.
With all of this in mind, our selection criteria, in addition, focused on:
- Ensuring that those nominated are well suited to carry out the duties of the positions they are nominated for.
- The track record of promises versus performance of the suggested candidate (whenever applicable).
- The candidate's new ideas/plans for the term in office.
- The willingness/ability to dedicate the necessary time and effort to the duties of the position.
In the end, and May Allah be our whiteness, we did our best, and came-up with the following candidates for the 5 positions being renewed this year:
